The Rumble: A New Orleans Experience Like No Other
In the latest episode of "Music Matters Podcast," I had the privilege of chatting with two key members of the seven member musical family called "The Rumble", those two band members being, Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr and Aurélien Barnes. The band  already has a Grammy-nominated debut album: "Live At The Maple Leaf" (hear it on DistroKid etc). Oh yeah don't forget to chaeckout the bands new Double (Limited Edition) Vinyl version as well... 
The bands hometown is New Orleans, and they're shaking up the music scene with their electrifying blend of funk, brass, and Mardi Gras Indian culture. 
The Rumble is more than just a band; they're a cultural force, carrying on the legacy of Black Masking Indians while infusing their sound with modern innovation. Their live performances are a symphony of pulsating rhythms, soulful vocals, and mesmerizing call-and-response chants, inviting audiences to participate in a living tradition that's both deeply rooted and constantly evolving.
During our chat, The Rumble's members shared their passion for preserving and sharing the rich history of Black Masking Indian culture. They spoke about the importance of passing down these traditions to future generations and how their music is a way to keep the spirit of Mardi Gras alive year-round.
I was particularly struck by the band's humility and commitment to their community. They recognize that their music is not just about entertainment; it's about connecting with people and sharing a message of unity, love, and resilience.

On this episode I chat with Mike Watt - what a great guy, a Punk Rock Bass player legend. Mike is a true cultural omnivore, exhibiting an insatiable appetite for diverse musical experiences. This profound openness and eagerness to explore new sounds is evident as he continues to engage in numerous projects, and captivating live performances.
Mike's bio seems almost as thick as a bible, you can read the full bio/discog, on his website link below. here is a quick overview - Mike...played with the Minutemen from 1981-1985, recording 4 albums and 8 EPs. fIREHOSE trio (1986-1994). Mike toured with "Iggy and the Stooges" and many other well-know musicians and band.
In fact his collaborations span a wide spectrum of artists, ranging from the avant-garde Yoko Ono to the enigmatic Black Moth Super Rainbow, and from the soulful Petra Haden to the pop sensation Kelly Clarkson. Through these varied partnerships, Watt's voracious musical curiosity and adaptability shine brightly, establishing him as an artist unbound by stylistic limitations.

Sicard Hollow, a young progressive bluegrass band on the move...on episode 03 of season 06 on Music Matters with Darrell Craig Harris

I love that technology can allow me to chat in real-time while Alex King, guitarist/vocals with the progressive bluegrass band ~ Alex is on the Sicard Hollow tour bus, and gives insight into the band and their rise to becoming very established while not in anyway taking things for granted... 
Sicard Hollows  recent crop of new albums are extremely enjoyable and filled with great and thoughtful lyrics.
Short Bio: Sicard Hollow is a four-piece progressive bluegrass band who formed with a mutual passion for pushing the boundaries of genre.
