Marti discusses a significant legal victory achieved by Mayimba Music, J & N Records LLC, and 829Music after the three independent Hispanic music companies joined forces to defend recordings they say had been exploited without authorization for more than a decade. The case involved claims of digital piracy, unauthorized use, and unpaid royalties, ultimately resulting in a favorable judgment in a Miami court.
We also explore the cultural importance of the Caribbean and Hispanic artists behind these recordings. While some may be unfamiliar to mainstream audiences, their music has influenced generations and is increasingly being sampled by major artists, including Cardi B and Bad Bunny.
